Call to Artist: Love Will Keep Us Together

Love.
What does it bring to mind?
Family? Dating? Sex? Hate? Sentimentality? Couples? Religion? Morality? Ethics? Red heartshaped
balloons? Valentines Day? Hallmark cards? Spring? Eros? Cupid? Longing?
Commitment? Confinement? Freedom? Loss?
The word, 'love,' is a Rorschach test of one's mental state. It is also a deep, but difficult to pin
down and highly transient emotional state. It can even be a call to social action, selfexamination,
or affirmation of communal morality.
Who: The South Seattle College Art Gallery is looking to invite local artists, 18 and older, from
the South Seattle College service area (zip codes: 98070, 98106, 98108, 98116, 98118, 98126,
98134, 98136, 98144,98146, 98166, 98168, and 98178) to show works in their upcoming
exhibition depicting love’s many facets.
What: All visual medias are eligible, artwork must have been completed in the last two years. All
artwork must be framed with hanging wire or ready to sit on a pedestal. Frame size must not
exceed 60 inches on longest side. The Gallery does not have a locking showcase to display
small works such as jewelry.

Submission Deadline: June 5th Monday
Jury Results sent: June 14th
Art Drop-Off: June 19th - 27th
Show Open: July 3rd - August 18th
Artist Reception: July 11th
Art Pick-up: August 21st - August 25th
Submission Information:
This show will be juried by the South Seattle College Art Gallery Advisory Committee. The
committee with review up to five works, select pieces and then notify artists of the results by
June 14th. Artists interested in participating should email the following to:

1) Up to five images of submitted pieces. Images must be jpegs, no larger than 72 dpi
and should be named in the following format: First initial_Last name_Artwork Title.
2) Image List. This should include the following information for each piece: Artwork Title,
Dimensions, Medium and short description of piece (about one sentence).
 3) Contact Information: Name, Address, Phone, Email and any other pertinent info.
 4) Signed Contract. This can be found on the gallery webpage:
