Final Project/international education week

International Education Week Photo Contest!
Deadline: Thursday, November 13th

Hello SSCC Faculty and students! We hope you have all enjoyed the first few weeks of the quarter. This e-mail is to remind you about International Education Week, and also announce the first International Education Week Photo Contest!
International Education Week (IEW) is a week in November celebrating International Education and the exchange of culture and learning that comes with it. This year’s IEW will be held from November 17th – 21st. Throughout the week, we will be having contests, seminars, and other activities as a way to celebrate international education and the important role it plays in our society. These activities will take place at many different times and locations on campus, but there is one activity that we want to get started early so you can all have a chance to participate: The International Education Week Photo Contest!
The photo contest will be running throughout the month of October and a little into November, with the deadline for submissions being Thursday, November 13th. Judging and voting will start the following Monday, and will help kick-off the beginning of our IEW activities. Submissions should be pictures taken in another country (anything outside the US) and should also include your name, a title and description or background of the photo. The photo contest is open to both students and faculty, with three categories:
-Food- We have many different foods in America, but there are even more out there that we don’t have here. Try to find pictures of something delicious and/or unique; anything goes as long as it has food in it!

-Architecture- One of the things that sets cultures apart is the styles and patterns used in buildings. Find something that very clearly represents the country where the picture is taken and displays the uniqueness and beauty of the designs and architecture.

-People – “People” is a category with a slightly larger scope, where anything that you think displays the history, tradition, attitude, or uniqueness of a group or community of people can be submitted.

Now that you have an idea of what we’re looking for, shuffle through your photo album and find one (or several) that you think will be a good submission to this contest! There will be three different winners (one from each category), who will receive prizes and also publication of their pictures in the school newspaper, The Sentinel! Submissions can be turned in (in person) at the front desk of the International Programs Office (RS 11). Remember, the deadline is November 13th. Late submissions will not be accepted.
We hope to see your submissions start coming in soon!
