ATTENDANCE

Attendance is
REQUIRED during class times, Monday and Wednesday. I take attendance every day. It is important for students to attend each class session. However, I don't grade on attendance. If you miss class, I won’t have time to provide you with all the material that you have missed. It is the responsibility of students to make up missed class sessions and work. This is a Five Credit course.  I expect that you spend time outside of class.

Religious Holiday Absences

Students are entitled to two days of excused absences per academic year for reasons of faith or conscience or for organized activities conducted by a religious organization.  These absences will not affect your grade, but it is your responsibility to inform your instructor about the planned absence and to make arrangements to complete the course work for those days. You must request the excused absence two weeks’ prior to the date of the absence.  If you wish to request an absence for reasons of faith or conscience, you may obtain a form and guidelines for completing the form from the Academic Program office.

GRADING

The assignments are described on a separate handout. They consist of weekly assignments, as well as a few assignments which are due at the end of the quarter. If insufficient work is turned in to warrant a 0.7 grade, a failing grade (0.0) or an NC might be given.  Let me know your preference.
Failing the course may have implications for your financial aid.
I only give Incompletes (I) when 1.) some work due at the end of the quarter is missing and 2. we come to an agreement about completion.

All assignments have a due date.  I accept late work, if it is possible. I will not accept any assignments in my hand after 12 noon  on the last day of the quarter.

Turning in written assignments  should be done in person.
Emailing assignments is acceptable, but not preferable.
I do accept late assignments.

ACADEMIC ISSUES

All written assignments must be submitted by individuals in their own words. All photographs by other photographers posted on the website must be cited i.e. photographer’s name, title of photograph, and source of photograph.

CELL PHONE POLICY

I accept that students may want to have their cell phones on during class for safety and other reasons.

Also, smart phones may be used for note taking and in-class research.

Please minimize the disruption of any necessary cell phone use.

REFERENCES AND PRIVACY

In concordance with FERPA regulations and privacy concerns, I will provide no information to third parties (outside South Seattle College) concerning you, without your permission, other than to say you are/were enrolled in my course.
